Sept - 19: Abandoning intuition at will.

Beginning to learn logic formally has so far involved an uncomfortable battle. Similar to many intro courses in various fields, it requires a moderate level of faith in the source. Information is presented in a certain order on a platter and it is prohibitive to prove it all immediately due to time constraints. This effect has been pronounced the most in CSC165 so far as compared to intro science and humanities courses since it immediately confronts your very process of thinking. In an odd twist of thought, the acceptance of some thorny paradigms (vacuous truth being the main culprit) involves almost as much emotion as pure logic. Currently, I still have a slight mental jolt when Prof. Heap claims anything claimed about an empty set is true 5 times a class. This has been dealt with by imagining that I believe it since my intuition hasn't fully budged. The ideas until now have been technically simple but challenge my psyche more than the problem-solving ability.
